Airport fascination: Aircraft handling at the terminal and a plane taking off
The airport is one of the most exciting places to visit in Dresden. It’s a captivating place for aviation fans of all ages. If you enjoy watching, filming and taking pictures of planes, we can recommend the viewing platform (gallery level) in the Dresden Airport terminal. It’s open 24 hours a day* (admission free). The view from the platform stretches right across to Moritzburg Castle. You can also watch planes on the tarmac being handled through the panoramic glass wall in the terminal forecourt. The Customer Services department runs guided tours that give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the airport. Sightseeing flights are available from the August der Starke Flying School. And for a fun evening out, the airport is a great place for concerts, parties and events. Our tip: Combine your trip to the airport with a stroll through the shops and Dresden's biggest travel centre in the terminal.
* During private events the visitor platform is closed to the public. It may also be closed for setting-up and dismantling before and after such events. Feel free to call the airport information desk beforehand to check availability.
