The check-in area is on the Departures level (level 01) of the Dresden Airport terminal. This level is accessible by lift and escalator. From the multi-storey car park, the Skywalk pedestrian bridge takes you straight to the counters and self-check-in kiosks. Please observe your airline’s baggage rules.

For holiday flights and long-haul flights, we recommend that you check in about two hours before your departure time. Check-in closes 60 minutes before departure. For non-stop scheduled domestic and European flights, check-in closes 45 minutes before departure. Your travel agent, airline or tour operator will let you know exactly when you need to check in.

Evening-before check-in (18:00-20:00) is offered by some airlines (see table) at marked counters. Certain airlines charge for this service. You will need your passport or ID card and your air ticket. When you have checked in your baggage, you will be given a baggage ticket and your boarding card. On the departure day there’s no need to rush: you can arrive at the airport up to 60 minutes before your departure time and proceed straight to security control. Users of the evening-before check-in service arriving by car are advised to park in short-stay car park PK1 or PK2.

Outsize items of baggage are only accepted the evening before the flight by airlines who offer evening-before check-in. All other airlines only accept outsize items of baggage on the day of departure.

Different airlines offer self-check-in kiosks (see table). Self-check-in is usually available up to 24 hours before the flight departure time. The kiosks operate 24 hours a day and are located underneath the large display board on the Departures level. The screen menus can be displayed in either English or German. To identify yourself, you will need your credit card, an ID document or passport, your booking reference or a frequent flyer membership card. When you have been given your boarding card, if you are only carrying hand baggage you can proceed straight to security control. If you have hold baggage, you must drop it off at the baggage drop-off counter.

If you check in online you can choose your seat and print off your boarding card yourself. Please note that this service is offered by the airlines (see table); Flughafen Dresden GmbH has no control over it.
