For the 19th time, Dresden Airport will once again be one of the venues for the International Dixieland Festival. The evening starts at 19:00, doors open 18:15.
Our unusual terminal building with its industrial architecture makes a very special setting for this musical extravaganza, running for the 50th time this year.
This unique atmosphere is one that audiences have grown to love and appreciate. Guests can s(w)ing and dance the night away on the visitor platform and on the conference level.
After the event the Dixie S-Bahn will take concert-goers back to Dresden Central station. The usual VVO tickets and prices apply.
Admission tickets cost €31.50 (no seat reservations) and are available from the usual ticket outlets and online at:

Check in now: At Dresden Airport, the starting school party is an unforgettable experience for the whole family!
The event kicks off at 14:00 in the terminal’s LuftRAUM with its panoramic view of the runway. All guests are treated to a welcome drink, followed by a delicious sweet and savoury snack buffet. High Fliers of all ages can then embark on a 90-minute discovery tour. A very popular feature of the tour is the visit to the airport fire station, where our Panthers lie in wait for their next outing.
The fun-packed afternoon is rounded off with face painting, table football and arts and crafts, and every school starter will also be given a small surprise gift.
Additional services such as a customised cake or a sweet table can be booked separately. We also offer an optional buffet dinner, in which case the High Fliers Starting School event ends at 21:00 instead of 18:00.
Admission for school starters and children up to age 5 is free. Tickets for children up to age 14 cost €29.90, and €44.90 for adults. Parking in the multi-storey car park for this event costs just €5.

Thomas Reichstein presents his figurative, life-size sculptures embodying “inner peace” at various points throughout the Dresden Airport terminal. A particularly interesting example is the life-size “Das Liegende Paar” (The Reclining Couple). Other works include abstract mythical creatures that also appeal to children.
The Dresden-based artist explains his intention thus: “The airport is a place where the journey pauses, is put on hold. You set off full of vigour at home, get to the airport, check in and drop off your baggage. And then, once you have completed all the formalities, you experience a unique phase of relaxation. You can stroll around, meditate or enter into a dialogue with artworks.”
